NHS Urgent Supply Service

We provide a needle exchange service where intravenous drug users can obtain clean  sterile needles and syringes and safely dispose of used needles and syringes.

This service is designed to prevent people sharing or re using needles.  It also reduces drug related harm and the transmission of blood borne bacterial and viral infections such as hepatitis B and C or HIV.

The service is lead by our Pharmacist in a non-judgemental manner and may lead to the user being referred to an appropriate drug treatment programme i.e. opioid substitute treatment in order to stop drug usage .  Our Pharmacist can also advise on minimising the harms caused by drugs and suggest further support and help.

We can help you when you are feeling unwell and you may be able to avoid a trip the doctor.

This service is free for patients who are exempt from a prescription charge.  Patients who pay for their prescriptions get a free consultation and only need to pay a prescription charge for medication prescribed.

A pharmacist independent prescriber is responsible and accountable for the assessment of patients with diagnosed or undiagnosed conditions and for decisions about the clinical management required including prescribing. It is a private service where IP will be able to prescribe medication including antibiotics and other prescription only medicines on private prescription. There is a charge for the consultation and for medications too that means NHS exemptions does not apply. We are operating a minor illness clinic and hypertension clinic where patients can book an appointment and get to see the Pharmacist prescriber (based on availability) and get treatment as necessary.
